Overview

5 Prayers is a prayer times app for Android and iOS operated by Mishmash Labs. It helps users view daily prayer times, find the Qibla, set optional reminders, use supported home screen widgets, save locations, and export monthly prayer timetables. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, why it uses that information, and what choices you have.

No account is required. The current app has no advertising, dedicated analytics or remote crash-reporting SDK, and no developer-operated cloud storage for your prayer preferences or locations.

Information the app uses

1. Location information

The app may use approximate or precise location information when you choose features that depend on your location, including:

  • calculating local prayer times
  • calculating Qibla direction and distance
  • naming your current location
  • determining your timezone

If you do not want to use device location, you can use manual location search instead.

The app requests a current location fix for the location feature; it does not continuously record your movements or require background location tracking. Prayer times, Qibla calculations and timezone resolution use on-device calculations and bundled timezone data. Naming a location may involve platform geocoding as described below.

2. Manual location search information

If you search for a city, address, or postal code manually, the search text may be processed by the platform geocoding services available on your device so the app can return location results. Reverse-geocoding lookups may send selected or device coordinates to those services to obtain a place name. These providers may also receive technical information such as your IP address and handle it under their own privacy policies. Manual search avoids device location permission but does not necessarily avoid online geocoding.

3. Compass and device sensor data

The Qibla compass uses device heading or sensor readings available on your device so the app can show direction guidance. This data is used to operate the compass feature.

4. App settings and saved prayer preferences

The app stores settings on your device so it can remember your preferences. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

  • selected location and saved locations
  • latitude, longitude, altitude, timezone, and location label
  • prayer calculation method, Asr method, high latitude rule, and prayer adjustments
  • Hijri adjustment and related prayer display preferences
  • reminder settings, enabled prayers, and reminder offset choices
  • widget appearance settings and whether a widget shows the location name
  • iqama schedule entries if you add them
  • onboarding and theme preferences

These settings are stored locally on your device. Location choices and prayer preferences can reveal information about your routines or religious practice; choose carefully what you display in widgets, notifications or shared timetables.

5. Notification and alarm state

If you enable optional reminders, the app requests notification permission and, on supported Android versions, may request exact alarm access so reminders can be scheduled reliably. Reminder choices are stored on your device.

Depending on your device settings, prayer reminder notifications may appear on your lock screen or notification shade. Reminders are scheduled locally, not sent from a developer-operated push server. Supported home screen widgets read local prayer and location settings and may display your selected location name. You can hide that name in widget settings or remove a widget.

6. Optional support purchases

The app includes optional one-time support purchases through Google Play Billing on Android and Apple's in-app purchase services on iOS where available. Payments are processed by the applicable store, not by Mishmash Labs directly. The app receives product and transaction status information needed to complete the purchase.

The app may store limited purchase state locally on your device, such as:

  • a count of successful support purchases on that device
  • the date of the last successful support purchase
  • non-financial purchase identifiers used to avoid duplicate processing

The app does not receive or store your full payment card number.

7. Exported or shared files

If you export a monthly prayer timetable, the app generates a PDF on your device. If you choose to open or share that file, it may then be handled by other apps or services you select. Those apps or services have their own privacy practices.

The PDF can include your selected location and timetable. It is not encrypted by the app. Protect saved copies and share them only with recipients you choose.

8. App updates and reviews

On Android, the app may check for and download updates through Google Play's in-app update service. Optional review requests use the relevant app store. The stores may process technical and account information needed for these services under their own policies; the app does not send your saved locations or prayer preferences with these requests.

How information is used

The app uses information to:

  • calculate prayer times for your selected location
  • calculate and display Qibla direction
  • save your settings and saved locations
  • schedule and manage optional prayer reminders
  • display Android home screen widgets
  • generate and share monthly prayer timetable PDFs
  • process optional support purchases and prevent duplicate purchase handling
  • improve stability and basic operation during normal app use

When information may be shared

The app may rely on third-party or platform services only where needed to provide core features. Examples include:

  • device location services and platform geocoding services for location-based features
  • Google Play Billing on Android and Apple's in-app purchase services on iOS for optional support purchases
  • Google Play's update service and the relevant store's review service
  • apps or services you choose when opening or sharing exported PDFs

The current release does not include third-party advertising SDKs, in-app ads, dedicated analytics SDKs or remote crash-reporting SDKs.

The app developer does not sell your personal information.

Platform and store providers may process information outside your country. Relevant notices include Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and Apple's Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

Data storage and retention

App settings used by 5 Prayers are stored locally on your device and remain there until you change them, clear app data, or uninstall the app, subject to operating-system backup and restore behavior. Store transaction records and geocoding-service records are retained according to the relevant provider's policies, not controlled by deleting local app data.

Saved PDF files remain on your device or in the location where you save them until you remove them.

If a file is shared with another app or service at your direction, retention of that shared copy is controlled by the receiving app or service.

Your choices

You can:

  • deny location permission and use manual location search instead
  • disable notifications or exact alarm access in your device settings
  • remove saved locations inside the app
  • hide the location name in widget settings, remove widgets, or restrict lock-screen notification content
  • delete exported PDF files from your device
  • clear app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data, subject to any copies you created or shared outside the app

Security

Reasonable efforts are made to limit data use to what is needed for the app's features. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children's privacy

5 Prayers does not knowingly seek personal information from children through an account or profile system. A parent or guardian should manage device permissions, purchases, widgets and shared files for a child. If you have a concern about a child's information, contact Mishmash Labs using the address below.

Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect app changes, legal requirements, or operational updates. The latest version should be made available where the app is distributed.
