Autofolio is a local-first vehicle expense and maintenance tracker for Android and iOS, operated by Mishmash Labs. This Privacy Policy explains how the Autofolio mobile app handles information when you use it.
1. Privacy at a glance
- Your vehicle records, photos, notes, receipts, reminders and reports are designed to stay on your device.
- Autofolio does not require an account and the current release does not provide an Autofolio cloud account or developer-operated sync service.
- Autofolio does not include advertising, analytics, location tracking, GPS trip recording or a developer-operated crash-reporting service.
- Your records are not uploaded during ordinary use. Files can leave the app when you choose backup, export, sharing or printing. Platform services may separately process technical information for purchases, reviews and app updates.
2. Information you choose to enter
Autofolio stores the information needed to provide its features. Depending on how you use the app, this can include:
- Vehicle details such as a vehicle name, make, model, year, license plate, VIN, powertrain, capacity, units and currency.
- Vehicle ownership details, including purchase and sale dates, prices and odometer readings.
- Fuel and charging records such as dates, odometer readings, quantities, prices, currencies, charger or fuel type, charge or tank levels and notes.
- Maintenance and other cost records, including service work, workshop names, parts and labor costs, and categories such as repairs, tires, insurance, registration, parking, tolls, cleaning, fines, accessories and financing.
- Manually entered trips, dates, start and end odometer readings, business or personal usage flags, and purpose or notes. The app does not record a GPS route.
- Recurring cost templates, reminders, vehicle document details, expiry and due dates, odometer thresholds and notification preferences.
- Photos and documents that you choose to attach to a vehicle, fuel or charging record, or cost record.
- Receipt images and the text recognized from them when you use receipt scanning. You review the recognized values before saving a record.
- Preferences such as your selected vehicle, display settings, language and other app settings.
You decide whether to enter personal or sensitive information, such as a license plate, VIN, financial amounts or free-text notes. Avoid entering information that you do not want stored on the device or included in a file you later share.
3. Information created by the app
The app creates local record identifiers, dates, integrity-check information and other data needed to relate records, generate reports, restore backups and keep the local database consistent. It may also store a local Pro entitlement, a count of saved receipt scans, the last successful backup time and review-prompt state so that purchased or limited features and app controls work correctly.
The Diagnostics screen can show and export the app version, platform, database schema version, an integrity-check result and counts of local records. These diagnostics are designed not to include vehicle names, notes, receipt text, license plates, VINs, financial values or photos. Sharing diagnostics is optional and user initiated.
4. How information is used
Autofolio uses information on the device to:
- Save and display your vehicle, fuel, charging, cost, trip, document and reminder records.
- Calculate consumption, cost per distance, totals and trends.
- Create PDF reports and vehicle passport documents.
- Create CSV or JSON exports and complete backup archives.
- Import records or restore supported files that you choose from another tracking app.
- Read receipt text on the device and pre-fill a form for your review.
- Schedule optional local reminders and notifications.
- Check local database integrity, clean up unused local media and complete backup restoration.
- Activate or restore the optional lifetime Pro purchase through the app store that supplied the app.
Autofolio does not sell your information, use it for behavioral advertising or use it to build a profile about you.
5. Where information is stored
The current release stores app records in the app's local database and stores selected photos and documents in app-managed local storage. Autofolio does not upload those records to an Autofolio server during ordinary use. The app is intended to work offline for its core tracking features.
Backups and exports
When you create a backup or export, Autofolio writes a file on the device and lets you save or share it through the operating system. A complete backup may contain all of your records and attached media. Backups are not encrypted. Their SHA-256 checksum helps detect corruption or tampering; it is not a password, encryption or access control. Protect backup and export files wherever you save them.
When you share, print or open an exported file with another app, that app or service may receive the file and handle it under its own privacy policy. Autofolio cannot control copies you send to another person, app, cloud drive, email provider or printer.
Imports and restoration
Autofolio reads only the file you select through the system file picker. CSV imports can add records; restoring an Autofolio backup or a supported Fuelio, Fuel Log, Drivvo or Motostat export replaces local tracking data after a preview and confirmation. Parsing and restoration take place on your device. The app does not sign in to those other services or request data from their servers.
Before restoration, Autofolio keeps a local safety backup of existing data. Up to three recent safety copies are retained in app storage. Like manually created backups, these copies are not encrypted. App names identify supported file formats, not an affiliation or endorsement.
6. On-device receipt scanning
Receipt scanning uses Google ML Kit text recognition through an on-device library. Autofolio passes the selected image to that local processing component, reads the returned text and shows a review form. Autofolio does not send the receipt image or recognized text to an Autofolio server. A scanned image is kept by Autofolio only when you choose to attach or save it in the app.
Google's services and SDK terms may apply to the ML Kit component. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Platform services and information sharing
Autofolio uses platform services only when their related feature is used:
- Camera and photo library: The app asks for camera or photo access when you choose to take or select a vehicle photo, receipt or document. The app does not scan your photo library in the background.
- Files, sharing and printing: A file picker lets you choose a backup or supported import file. The operating system's share or print sheet can send a file to an app or service you select.
- Local notifications: If you enable reminders, notifications are scheduled on the device. They are not push messages from an Autofolio server. On Android, the app may be notified after a device restart so local reminders can be scheduled again. You can disable notifications in the app or device settings.
- App store purchases and review requests: Google Play or the Apple App Store processes purchases, refunds and payment details. Autofolio does not receive your payment card number. The app receives the store information needed to activate or restore the Pro entitlement. An optional in-app review request is handled by the relevant store.
- App updates: On Android, the app may check for and download available updates through Google Play's in-app update service. Google Play handles technical and store information under its own policies; vehicle records are not included in an update check.
The app does not request or use precise location, contacts, microphone access or GPS data. It does not use advertising identifiers for tracking.
8. Third-party providers
The current release does not send your app records to an Autofolio backend, analytics provider, advertising network or remote crash-reporting service. Platform stores and SDK providers may process technical information under their own policies when their services are used. Relevant policies include:
If a future version adds an Autofolio account, cloud sync, analytics, advertising or another remote data service, this policy will be updated before that feature is enabled.
9. Retention and deletion
Your local tracking information remains on the device until you edit or delete it, use Delete all data in Autofolio, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Delete all data removes tracking records, their app-managed attachments and most tracking settings. It preserves the local purchase entitlement, review-prompt state, onboarding status, language and theme preferences. It also does not remove:
- A backup, export, PDF, photo or other file that you already saved outside the app.
- Generated files and restoration safety copies kept separately in app storage. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes app-local copies, subject to platform backup behavior.
- A file already sent to another app, person, printer or cloud service.
- A purchase record held by Google Play or the Apple App Store. Store purchases are managed by the relevant platform.
The operating system may retain app backups or temporary files according to its own settings. Manage those copies through the operating system or the service where you saved them.
Because the current release has no Autofolio account or hosted record store, there is no Autofolio server copy for us to search, correct or delete. You can review, correct, export or delete the information stored in the app using its built-in features.
10. Security
Autofolio relies on the mobile operating system's app sandbox and the security of your device. Use a device passcode or biometric lock and do not share unprotected backup or export files. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and Autofolio cannot guarantee the security of information after you send it to another app, service or person.
11. Children
Autofolio is a general vehicle-management app and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an Autofolio account or server.
12. Your questions and privacy requests
For a privacy question or a request that cannot be completed in the app, contact Mishmash Labs at mishmash.labs@gmail.com. If you contact us, we receive the email address, message and attachments you choose to send and use them to respond and investigate your request. Support information is retained only as long as needed to handle the request and meet applicable legal obligations. Please send only the information needed to explain your request, and do not send a backup unless you intend to share everything it contains.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, or to complain to a data-protection authority. We cannot access your on-device records or delete copies held by an app store or another service. Third-party services may process information outside your country under their own privacy policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app's data practices change or when clarification is needed. The Last updated date at the top will change with any revision. Additional notice or consent will be provided where required by applicable law.
