# Privacy Policy Last updated: May 15, 2026 Explore Lahore ("the app," "we," "our," or "us") is a local-first city guide designed to help people discover places in Lahore, save favorites, build itineraries, and keep a personal visit history. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app stores, when data may be sent off your device, which third-party services are involved, and what choices you have. ## Quick summary - No account is required to use the app. - We do not request GPS or location permission, camera access, microphone access, contacts, or photo library access. - Your favorites, recently viewed places, itineraries, and visited-place history are stored locally on your device. - On Android, the app uses Google Mobile Ads and Google's consent flow, including a Privacy choices entry point when required. - In supported builds, the app may check a hosted manifest and download updated place data over HTTPS. - When you open external links or use sharing features, you interact with third-party apps and services under their own privacy practices. ## Information stored on your device Explore Lahore stores the following information locally on your device to make app features work: - Favorite places you save - Recently viewed places - Itineraries you create, including itinerary names, stop order, and time slots - Visited-place history, including saved visit dates - A cached copy of updated place data if a newer guide-data file is downloaded for your build This information is stored in local app storage, including a local on-device database. We do not require you to create an account to use these features. ## Information sent off your device ### 1. Advertising and consent on Android On Android, Explore Lahore uses Google Mobile Ads to show native advertisements in selected parts of the app. The app also uses Google's User Messaging Platform consent flow when required so users can review or update ad-related privacy choices. When ads are requested, displayed, measured, or when consent is managed, Google and its partners may process information such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, diagnostics, and ad interaction data under Google's own policies. Optional guide-data refresh The app's core place data ships with the app, but some builds may also be configured to check a remote HTTPS manifest for a newer place-data file. If a newer version is available, the app may download that updated guide data and store it locally on your device. These requests are simple HTTPS file fetches used to refresh Lahore place content. They do not require account creation or sign-in. ### 3. External links Some place entries include links to Google Maps, official websites, Instagram pages, or Facebook pages. When you tap one of these links, you leave Explore Lahore and open a third-party service. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. ### 4. Sharing features If you choose to share a place or an itinerary, the app passes the selected content to your device's system share sheet so you can send it through another app of your choice. What happens after that depends on the app or service you choose to share with. ## Permissions The Android app currently uses these permissions: - `android.permission.INTERNET` to load ads, open online content, and check for optional remote place-data updates - `com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID` for Google advertising services on supported Android devices The app does not request runtime permission for device location. ## What we do not collect directly Explore Lahore does not include first-party account registration, user profiles, direct messaging, payments, or a first-party analytics or crash-reporting service operated by us. You can control that data in several ways: - Remove saved favorites in the app - Delete or edit itineraries in the app - Remove visited-place entries in the app - Clear the app's storage through your device settings - Uninstall the app from your device Cached guide-data files stored for content refresh may also be removed if app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled. Ad-related and consent-related data handled by Google is subject to Google's own retention practices. ## Children's privacy Explore Lahore is a general-audience travel and discovery app. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through first-party account features because the app does not include those features. ## Changes to this policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect app changes, release changes, legal requirements, or third-party service updates.
